Easter Egg Hunt

Even though today is only Palm Sunday, the girls participated in an Easter Egg hunt at the Assisted Living Community where Granny lives.

Thought this was a great photo with Granny, even though Cameron blinked. (Granny isn't smiling so beautifully in the other photo.) I let the girls wear their Easter dresses and both were absolutely adorable. The 5 yrs old and under egg hunt went first. You can't see all of the other children in my photos, but there were 17 children in this hunt. The eggs were everywhere, mainly in plain sight.

Look at this face! She was right in front, eyes searching everywhere for eggs, while waiting to be told "Go." She was determined and looked like a little Ms. Pacman grabbing up the eggs. Her basket tilted and she was dropping some out of the back, even as she was putting eggs in the front. One little boy just followed her, picking up her dropped eggs.

Later by the fountain, she tilted the whole basket on the ground and another little girl (about 3) came and started taking her eggs. Brenna got upset at first, but gave the girl two eggs. When the hunt was over the directors called out for the children to count their eggs! They were giving prizes to the children with the most and the fewest. Brenna tied for first with 19 eggs (and I had been telling her to leave some alone for the younger children!)

Granny and the other ladies just ooh-ed and ahh-ed over Brenna's prize, an Easter basket. One lady kept asking Brenna if the eggs were for her. Brenna had already taken out all the candy from the eggs and put them in a bag.

Cameron's 6-and-up egg hunt came about ten minutes later. The ladies at the center darted around the courtyard hiding the eggs inside bushes, windowsills, tree limbs. This time there were thirteen children and where Brenna had been among the oldest, Cameron was one of the younger. She had been inside talking with another little girl while the eggs were being hidden, but sharp-eyed Brenna had been watching out for Cameron. Where the little kids had walked and not fought over the eggs, the older kids pushed the limits of the rules.

Cameron picked up 24 (I think) and it wasn't enough to win, but she carefully went around to each of the residents sitting on the patio offering them an Easter egg (with the candy still inside.) Most were just delighted with her and accepted. Then it was time to get Granny back inside, because even though she was sitting, it was getting very warm outside.

I hope she had a good afternoon watching the children play. It's hard to tell these days what she enjoys.
